What would happen if in the middle of a bullfight, a bull and a bullfighter could speak? This is the question posed and answered by Mirando al tenido, the play by Rodolfo Santana, which will be presented by the National Theater Company from Friday to Sunday, from September 3 to 19.
The Alberto de Paz y Mateos theater will host the show that will be directed by Rufino Dorta and staged by Gerardo Luongo and William Cuao with performances at 3:00 in the afternoon.
Mirando al tendido is considered one of the most poetic works of the Venezuelan playwright Rodolfo Santana. In it, the story of El Niño is narrated over the course of an hour, a bullfighter who is fatally gored during a job and in the midst of his agony starts a conversation with the bull.
Inspired by the deadly goring suffered by the famous bullfighter known as El Niño de la Capea, the piece calls for reflection on life, death and yearnings, while offering the viewer a critical look at the world of bullfighting before their eyes the perspectives of the bull and the bullfighter.
