Walid Chaya Brings The Funny In Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival Official Selection

As the city of Toronto reopens and the brutality of winter fades away, the city gears up for its longest-running comedy festival Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, by the end of March 2022. Home to some of the best live, scripted comedy, the festival preparations are in full swing. 

Award-winning actor, director, and top creative Walid Chaya is chosen to bring the funny to the TOSketch Comedy Festival this year. 

Winner of the “Best Comedy Short” from Dubai’s prestigious WOW Mid-East Film Fair and other festivals worldwide for his directorial and self-starring ‘Driving Ms. Saudi,’ Walid Chaya has proven time and time again that he is a star comedian to look out for. 

Known to tickle the funny bones of his audience, Walid is all set to grace the festival with his performance in “Elon Musk SpaceX Auditions.”

The sketch is written by Rachel Strauss-Muniz and depicts a hilarious depiction of business magnate Elon Musk and his wife Grimes’s attempt to audition and select one entertainer for the last remaining spot on the exclusive flight to orbit Earth.

Walid Chaya is well known in the industry for his comic timing and ability to get the audience to roar with laughter. He has also been part of the longest-running sketch comedy show produced by The People’s Improv Theater (The PIT) known as ‘Old School Sketch Show.’

Walid has not only entertained audiences with his acting skills but also established himself as a producer and owner of Studio For Performing Arts LA and Moonlit Wings Productions. 

The American-Lebanese actor had a raging success with his 2021 production “Hard Candy” The Hit Comedy,” which included diverse LA actors and thoroughly entertained the audience with its comedic writing and Walid’s fantastic direction.

Next up, Walid is in development for his original feature romantic comedy, ‘The Barent Trap.’ The film follows an arranged marriage that brings a closeted Lebanese music teacher to Los Angeles, where he switches places with his long-lost twin who unintentionally falls for the bride-to-be while meeting their estranged parents.

His passion for storytelling and acting is easily visible in his work. He is using his skills and power in the industry to entertain the audience and is working fervently to enhance diversity in the Hollywood landscape. A man with a mission, Walid’s creative expertise is unlimited. When he is not acting, he shares his golden insights in the shape of thoughtfully curated courses to aspiring actors. He provides coaching to all those looking to establish themselves in Hollywood.
